Find it here: Prized and Rare Roosterfish
Anglers travel from all over the world to have a chance at landing a prized and rare roosterfish from the beach or on a boat. The roosterfish, (Nematistius pectoralis), is a game fish found in the warmer waters of the East Pacific from Baja California to Peru. It is distinguished by its “rooster comb”, seven very long spines of the dorsal fin. Roosterfish can reach over 5 feet in length and over 110 pounds in weight. The weight of the average fish hooked is about 20 lb. The fish is popular as a game fish. To catch your trophy fish look for the optimal time of year depending on area, baits and techniques. In Baja, the best time to catch Roosterfish is from May – August.
